Abstract
Nowadays, technology and its proper management is a significant factor in gaining success for companies in national and international competitions. Technology gap, as one of determining factors of competition advantage, is a serious problem encountering developing countries. On the other hand, the resulting inference from annual economic and operational assessment shows that technology should be given specific consideration as the turning point of changes in companies. One of the best methods for assessing the technology level in small and medium companies is CAPTECH approach which evaluates technology elements in eight areas. These companies can make use of this efficient tool in both capacitating for technology recruitment and investing for technology improvement. In this study, an inventive approach and model has been proposed for reporting the identification and evaluation of technology level as well as for developing the technology document. This approach has been operationalized in “poultry’s field of activity” with focus on two Iranian companies. The results showed that in this field of activity, the technical knowledge and the information backup are respectively in the highest and lowest levels in comparison with the best rival companies and the optimum point. Based on this identification report, improving strategies and plans were suggested. Besides, this model can extend to other fields of activity.
