The aim of this research is to assess technological capabilities in IRIB Organization, and to prioritize them with analytical network process (ANP) in order to propose the improved solutions. This article is a descriptive- survey and applied research, and the experts of the organization in the field of technology consist the statistical population specifically; so due to its small size, the research is done by census method and it is a case study.
After preparing the research design, we proceeded to study and gather the related literature by library method, then, through a proposed conceptual pattern design, a questionnaire based on Likert scale was designed by field method; and with the help of media experts’ views and after modification we obtained 36 indices with more effect on assessing technology capability. These indices are classified into 5 main dimensions (factors) including capability’ ones in the following realms: technology recognition and selection (6 indices), technology exploitation (5 indices), technology systems support (8 indices), technology propagation and commercialization (8 indices), and technology management (9 indices). Thus, the suitable pattern for assessing technology capability in the organization was designed.
Findings show the rate of success of each of the dimensions and effective indices on technological capabilities in the organization are at average level as a whole; except the technology recognition and selection capabilities which are at the most desirable status now, the rest are alarming, i.e. they should be improved urgently. In prioritizing the main dimensions of technological capabilities, from the experts’ views, which was done by the paired comparisons with ANP technique and using Super Decision software, the technology management factor has the first rank, and technology propagation and commercialization factors have the last one. It means that the media senior management should first improve the indices related to the dimension of media technological management capability quickly, and then proceed to enhance symmetrically the other 36 ones according to this ranking and to propose improved solutions in this respect.
