Abstract
Petrochemical and related industries play an important role in the economy. The creation of dozens of direct and indirect job opportunities and the production of various pharmaceutical, food, packaging and other products, as well as helping the growth and development of various industrial, medical and agricultural technologies, are parts of the achievements of the petrochemical industry. Considering the limited size of the national economy, the development of export markets is considered one of the main and important factors in the development of the petrochemical industry. In this research, it has been tried to identify and prioritize the export opportunities of petrochemical industry products in the five countries of the Eurasian Economic Union with the help of the economic complexity-decision support model. Considering that the free trade agreement between Iran and the Eurasian Economic Union is being finalized, it is very important to identify export opportunities for petrochemical industry products in these countries and include them in the list of concessions received from the other side.
The results show that there are 192 attractive export opportunities (in terms of short-term, long-term growth and share in the global market) in the mentioned union. Although the mentioned opportunities do not face high tariff barriers, it is difficult to penetrate them due to the high degree of concentration of competitors in the identified opportunities market. Most of the identified product groups are considered as complex products, therefore, the development of the export of these products (to Eurasia or the world) will have significant spillover effects on the country's economic growth and development, as well as a significant contribution to the diversification of the export portfolio. will do According to the results of the research, most of the export opportunities of petrochemical products exist in the two countries of Russia and Kazakhstan. Considering that it is difficult to penetrate the market of selected opportunities, the inclusion of petrochemical industry products in the list of concessions received from Eurasia can significantly increase access to the mentioned markets by removing tariff barriers.
