Abstract
This research was conducted with the aim of designing and presenting an applied model for the development of knowledge-based businesses. In this regard, a mixed (quantitative and qualitative) research method was chosen to allow for a more comprehensive study of the subject. The research specifically used a data-driven approach and used tools such as theme analysis, interpretive structural modeling (ISM), and structural equation modeling to analyze the data. In the qualitative part of the research, semi-structured interviews with academic experts and managers of knowledge-based companies were used to collect data. This stage was to collect in-depth and practical information from the experiences and perspectives of experts. Subsequently, in the quantitative stage, data were designed and collected through a questionnaire. In the qualitative data analysis process, 120 semantic units were initially identified, which led to the extraction of 60 codes and ultimately 45 final themes. These themes were comprehensively reviewed and presented in the form of a multi-level structural model that can be a suitable basis for a deeper analysis of the complexities of knowledge-based businesses. In the quantitative part, using structural equation models, the relationships between variables were analyzed and the validity of the model was confirmed. The results obtained from this study show that success in the development of knowledge-based businesses requires a careful examination of various key factors; factors such as location, management, support, and cultural factors that play a vital role in the growth and sustainability of these types of businesses. The model proposed in this study not only provides a better understanding of the relationships between these factors, but also serves as a practical guide for managers and policymakers to implement effective strategies to promote competitiveness and sustainable development in the field of knowledge-based businesses. This model can serve as a roadmap for future investments and selection of priorities.
